This week on PBS there are a number of Military-related programs, starting with one tonight (Monday) when a documentary about the US Marine Corps (probably a pro-military piece, but which apparently contains graphic material that might cause potential enlistees pause).
(Before watching the program, note the excerpt below from Jarhead, a book that tells some of the censored-out truths about what it means to be a Marine.)
Tomorrow night (Tues) there is a piece on the combat PTSD-afflicted battalian from Colorado Springs, CO, whose soldiers notoriously came home from the Iraq war and were involved in rapes, murders, suicides, criminal acts, drug use, etc. I suspect that many of them were "devout" Christians of the pro-military Focus on the Family persuasion.
(See the article attached about some of the shameful details of the Colorado Springs murders.)
Then on Wed there is a "Secrets of the Dead" program on PBS about the Battle of Stalingrad from the Russian perspective that should destroy the widespread American myth that our military, rather than the Russian army, was the major factor in defeating Germany (Russia inflicted 80% of the German military casualties that they incurred in the European war, and Russia suffered 80% of the Allied casualties. American troops held back and had the Russian army take Berlin all by itself in the bloody battle that ended WWII (thus allowing "communism" [or rather "Stalinistic fascistic totalitarianism"] to hold on to so much of Eastern Europe post-war.)
